The Musical

Musical

The movie Mean Girls is a true icon for a generation, already considered a classic of 2000s cinema. Commercially, it grossed over $86 million in the United States and Canada alone, and a total of $129 million at the global box office. Riding the wave of this success, it spawned a sequel and was adapted for the Broadway stage, with a book by the award-winning Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Baby Mama), music by Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde), and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

Currently, the show is touring the United States and has a production running in the West End, London. In Brazil, the show is directed by Mariano Detry, responsible for the mega-hit Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - The Musical, produced by IMM and EGG Entretenimento, led by businesswoman Stephanie Mayorkis.

The story follows Cady Heron, a teenager who moves to the United States after living in Africa with her parents. She enters a new school and is befriended by Janis and Damian, who introduce her to the social structure of high school. At Janis' suggestion, Cady gets involved with the popular group of Karen, Gretchen, and their leader, Regina George, but quickly realizes they are cruel and manipulative. Cady then decides to give them a taste of their own medicine. The musical touches on themes such as friendship, sisterhood, acceptance, and the social pressures teenagers face, in a realistic and very humorous way.
